Dearest Mother, Dad, & Velma;
I received two letters from you last night dated Sept. 26, 27. You said you had received my clothes that I sent from Sydney. I am glad they got back O.K. but did you ever receive the box of clothes I sent several months back? It consisted of boots, tennis shoes, etc. Let me know if you have received it yet.
Mom, about yours and Dad’s picture – I hope you think to have it put in a pretty small folder because I can keep it better that way. We still live very primitively and if it is very large, it will be hard to keep.
I was very glad to hear about Kat’s good fortune. I am sure she likes the job and will do very good at it.
I wasn’t doing much yesterday so I jumped in my ship and ran over to see Jack Mullins. I visited with him nearly all day and had a very good time. Got there about 9:30 a.m. and left at 4:30 p.m. Just took me about 30 minutes to make the trip. Jack has really seen some hard times since I last saw him. He has really been thru hell. He has had several narrow escapes and I would really hate to have been in his place. He seems to be pretty nervous but other than that he is O.K. We are both so tired of it all we can hardly stand it.
Looks like I have been to Sydney for my last time. We are getting so far away that we need another place to go and I think I know where it will be.
My promotion still hasn’t come thru yet and I am very disgusted. I’ll have to stay three months after I get it. At least that’s the rule. Sure hope they change that tho.
Mom, my APO is just 704. Nothing else. No more Unit I. Remember, just plain 704. Evidently, you forgot to put in the clipping about Kat. It wasn’t in the letter.
‘Bye for now and keep writing.
Love,
Son
