Dearest Mother, Dad, & Velma;
How are you folks getting along? I wish you could see me now – you would really laugh. I haven’t changed clothes in three days and have had my shoes off twice to wash my feet. Believe me, it’s rough!
As far as my APO, I don’t have one yet, but I will soon be in Mr. Mullins old country and from what I hear it is rugged. I should be getting some victories very shortly so don’t worry about me. I’ll be as careful as I can. When things settle down I should be getting to go home. By that time, our pilots will be experienced – I hope!
I had my first part of a typhoon but it wasn’t much. I hear they get rough at times. I saw ‘Doc’ Peter last night and I am now at his base but will very soon. Don’t worry too much if you don’t hear regularly, but things are rough.
Please don’t worry – in a way it’s a lot of fun. Just hope I get a bunch of Nips and I really should. Wish me lots of luck and pray for me every day.
Remember I love you with all my heart. Write to my old APO 704 until you get my new one.
Wish I could tell you more.
Bye for now.
Love,
Son
