At home – per usual.

 Dearest Mother and Dad,

I hope you will pardon me for not writing the last four days but we have been rather busy as I have said before.  I hope you can guess what it is all about and if you read the papers I am sure you can.  We have just completed our club and will have the big opening in a few nights.  As per usual, we get it finished in perfect order and then we will have to leave it.  I wish you could see it.  I will try to send you some pictures in the near future.  It takes quite a long while to get them developed because I have to send them to Sydney to get them done.

I am enclosing a few shots I have taken.  They are not very good but may serve the purpose.  I have some more of me being developed now.  I told Lytle that I would get you to have some prints made of these and for you to send them to his wife.  Please be sure and do this as I promised him you would.  I had some more good shots of my ship but the censor wouldn’t let me send them.  You would have liked them a lot.

I got a letter from Thelma and Kat this past week and I really appreciated them writing to me.  I surely wish I could see them.  I hope to write them tomorrow.  Is Jim going over seas?  I hope he doesn’t try to because believe me it is plenty rough.  In the States one doesn’t have a lot of things to worry about and over seas you do have them.

Just had my ship worked over and it should be in apple-pie order.  I’ll try to send another picture of it as soon as I can if the censor will let it by.  I have com to the conclusion that I brought too much stuff over with me.  Especially my woolens.  I have my dress clothes stored in Brisbane but my regular woolens are molding very badly.

Mom, the longer I star over here the less I know to write about.  In the future, try to ask me things that I can answer and maybe it will help the contents of the letter.  We are getting along fine and I am sure we will continue to do so.  Please try not to worry too much and remember I am as careful as I can afford to be.  The Lord has been on my side so far and I am sure he will continue to be.

Please write soon and tell me all the local news.  Why don’t you try sending me a paper and see if I get it?  Please watch my APO number and write soon.

                                                                                                All my love,

                                                                                                 Son
