 Dearest Mother and Dad,

Here I am late again in writing but I have been feeling pretty lousy the last four or five days.  In fact, I was in the hospital for about three days.  I feel better now but I have about six fever blisters on my lips.  I guess I had an upset stomach.  I got sick at Jack Mullins' base and he came to see me while I was there.  The Doc was a very nice fellow and he had a very cute little pooch named “Buna”. Did I tell you some one swiped my dog “Slo-time”?  Jack is now Company Commander and I think he is doing a very good job over there.  He likes his work, too.

We are still very busy over here as you probably have been reading about and everything is working pretty smooth.  We all are ready to get this over with so we can get home, however.

I wonder if Barbara is at home yet.  Gosh, I hope nothing interfered with her visit with you.  She is such a swell person and I want you to get to know her.  I surely hope you think she is O.K. because I surely think she is.

Lytle, Chase, and I are going on leave in about a week if they don’t change our plans. We are planning on a huge time and lots of fun. Yes, Mom, we’ll be nice boys! I’ll try to do a little shopping while I am down there if they will let us send any thing home.

By the way, thanks for this stationery!  It is perfect!  You couldn’t have sent anything I needed more. I really like it, too. I received it on my birthday so I had a nice little surprise. Surely wish I could thank you in person for it.

I wonder how everyone in the ‘ole home town is getting along.  Does it still look the same way? It seems like ages since I was there.  It has been a long time, too. Give everyone my regards and here’s hoping it won’t be too long before I get to see them. The European war is shaping up mighty well and when that is over it shouldn’t take us too long over here.  But, I do think the Nips are tougher.

Well, Mom this is about all for now. Not much news. Just read newspapers is about all I can tell you.  I am O.K. so don’t worry about my upset stomach.  I’ve had those before. Take good care of Barbara and write soon.

                                                                                                 All my love,

                                                                                                 Son
