New Guinea

 Dearest Mother & Dad,

Today has been very dull.  Rain all day and I do mean rain.  Surely is tiresome.  Never the less – we had a mission this afternoon but we couldn’t reach our objective.  This is a bad time of the year for my type of work.

We now have nurses at our base so you see it is becoming less of an advanced base.  I haven’t met any of them yet, but the ones I saw appear to be very attractive.  Maybe it is because we don’t see girls very often.

I haven’t put in much combat time this past month as I was on leave and then I had to go to Australia on special detail.  I haven’t added much to my sixty-eight missions.  I have special news tonight.  I will have to let it go at this.

I am in good health and you won’t have to worry about me.  Keep your letters coming because they really keep me going.  Don’t know what I’d do if it weren’t for you and Barbara.

Here’s hoping you are all well and I hope it won’t be too long before I get home.  I hope I am home by Xmas.

                                                                                                 All my love,

                                                                                                 Son
