Somewhere

 Dearest Mother, Dad, & Velma;

         Hello!  How are you folks tonight?  Are you loafing like I am?  That is, I loaf at night & usually “hit the sack” pretty early.  During the day, we are usually busy and lately we are especially busy.  You will know if you will listen to the news reports.  So far, we are still O.K. but getting pretty tired an wonder if I will ever get back to the States.

             The mail situation has not been any good the past week and, of course, I am wondering what is going on at home.  Tonight I got about 8 Reporters and that helped a lot.

             Everyone is playing poker tonight and the stakes are plenty high.  They think nothing about losing $400.00 and some win nearly $1000.00 in one night.  I don’t understand their outlook.  I don’t gamble because I am too stingy.  I can’t stand to lose.  I don’t mind spending it if I have something to show for it but I don’t like to give it away.

             By the way, I haven’t received my dog-tag chain or stationery yet but maybe I will some day.  You can never tell about this mail situation.

             Chase hasn’t left yet and it looks like it will be two more weeks before he gets out.  The Army sure moves slow at times.  He is very impatient and I can’t blame him.  Wish it were me instead of him.

             Well, Mom, this is to let you know I am O.K.  Write often and take care of Dad and make him take you to the shows often.

                                                                                                 Love,

                                                                                                 Son
