Dearest Mother, Dad, & Velma;
Hope you like the pictures I enclosed. Crockett sent some to I.H.C. I am dressed exactly as I fly, as I don’t fly in coveralls as some fellows do. I need a haircut pretty badly but I had just taken off my helmet so that is why I look so pew. The other is flying fatigue.
I will really be glad when my time comes to go home but it won’t be until around the first of the year, or possibly a little later. Dunham (Major) said he would get me out as soon as he could. I have way over four hundred combat hours and about 18 months service, which is plenty!
You asked about the temperature here. At night one needs a blanket but during the dayit is about 90 degrees.
Dad seemed to hit the nail on the head in his last letter. He knows what we have to do over here. I think I have one more move to make and then I can start sweating out going home.
I don’t know any further news, Mom, so maybe I had better stop. Tell Dad to write more often. His letters are very good.
‘Bye for now and please keep up the writing.
All my love,
Son
