 Dearest Mother and Dad,

Hello, and how are you folks getting along of late?  I am doing very well now and have been really busy since I last wrote to you.  I am still flying every possible moment.  Yesterday I went up on a high altitude flight (25,000) and enjoyed it very much.  There is hardly a bit of difference at that altitude than ten or twelve thousand feet.  It is really smooth there and this airplane really starts to fly then.  It gets better at higher altitudes.

We have started night flying now but we only have to have 120 hours and that will not take so long.  As yet I haven’t been up at night but that was on account of bad weather.  As soon as it clears off again I’ll be able to get in the air.

I received the holster and it is just exactly what I wanted.  You did a perfect job on that.  I am really proud of it, too.  I have received everything you have sent or written and the papers are coming along o.k. too.   I have forgotten to tell you before.

You asked about what all I needed for taking across.  I don’t know of a thing that I haven’t got, but later on I’ll probably think of a thousand things.  From the way things are shaping up, we won’t be here very long and it looks like England.  I can’t tell you anything about our plans or anything but in general  it looks like about what we figured on when the last time we discussed it.

I got a very nice letter from Mary today and I think the situation is now under control.  I might send it to you the next day or so and let you read it.  I hope everything is like I think it is.

The squadron had a big party Sat. night and I had a swell time.  Everybody brings their wives and the Bachelor Officers bring their girl friends.  I was lucky and invited a girl from Springfield.  She is very cute and is very nice.  She looks like Jane Clayton.  If it wasn’t for Mary, I might try to make more out of it.  Her family is of the highest type.  I met the Father and Mother the other day on my day off and they are swell.  In fact, I am invited to their house this coming weekend.

Hello again, here I am through flying for the day and ready to go to the B.O.Q. and then go to the mess hall.

I will call you tonight and see how you are getting along.  I had lots of fun flying today and got a few hits on the aerial target.

Well, bye for now and don’t forget to write.

                                                                                                You loving son,
