 Dearest Mother & Dad,

I just received five V-letters from you and gosh, was I happy!  Since we have moved, our mail is slow getting to us.  I am surely glad Bob Lang got to come home.  Not only for the family, but for his sake.  I know how he feels.  Boy, what a thrill that would be for me.

Dad was right in the number of the Army I am with.  But Dorothy Cooke missed in guessing where I was.  You must have read too much of the story.  I didn’t see Alden Benge the whole time I was there, but it looks like I would have run into him.  That is where I ran into Joe Geer.  I never did see Ed Hennig.  I got a most interesting letter from Carl Anderson about ten days ago.

You asked about Barbara and what to do in her case.  Mom, I am very glad you asked her to come down for a visit.  Please don’t think you did anything rash.  I am very glad it turned out that way.  I feel she is very much interested in me, and she is at least faithful about writing.  She told me you asked her to come down and she is thrilled to death about the idea.  That way you can pass your own judgment on her and, naturally, she will look us over.  She is a very sweet girl and uses good judgment and I am sure she will make a good impression.  I told her that our house was hers as long as she was there.  Please treat her very nice and show her as good time as possible.  I like her very much.  Mary has written three letters since I have been overseas. Evidently, she has found someone else and is forgetting about this deal over here.  Her letters have been most ordinary.  So if that is the way she wants it – O.K. by me.  She is a very peculiar girl.

Well, I guess that clarifies the girl situation and you will know what to do.  Please do your utmost to make Barbara’s visit pleasant if she does come down.

I must close because I have to get up early.  ‘Bye for now and send the paper to APO 929.

                                                                                                 All My love,

                                                                                                 Son

P.S. Be sure to write Barbara regularly.
