New Guinea

 Dearest Mother, Dad, & Velma,

I don’t have much news today as everything is about the same.  Very dull at times with excitement occasionally.

Hnatio, my tent mate, is the leading man of our squadron with five victories.  Surely hope I am able to bag a few tomorrow.  So far, I haven’t been able to catch one.  Let’s hope I do.

Mom, be sure to keep an eye on my address.

Lytle and Chase are on leave now and will be back in a few days.  Incidentally, Chase became a papa a few days ago.  He doesn’t know it yet, so we are waiting to break the news to him.  He has been getting very impatient but we always told him he had done his part and would have to let nature take it’s course.  He got quite a kick out of that.

I guess I had better stop now and go to bed since I know nothing new.  Say hello to all my friends and write often.  Oh yes, I received my house slippers and cigars yesterday.  They were perfect in every way.  Thanks a million!

I think of you every day.

                                                                                                All my love,

                                                                                                 Son
