 Dearest Mother, Dad, & Velma,

I hope you will excuse me for not writing the past two days but there is absolutely nothing that I can tell you that is interesting.  Things have been very quiet for us since we have moved with only a few exceptions.  We are getting everything back in top shape again.  I went to the mess hall last night to our combat films of our last fight.  The pictures were just fair because of the weather.  But, they brought back some exciting memories.  Our food has improved just a tiny bit since I last wrote you but it still has a long way to go.

I got a letter from Lillian Harkins day before yesterday and it was one of the nicest letters I have ever received in my life.  I’ll probably send it to you some time this week.  Our mail service is still terrible.  When we do get mail we really do get plenty all at once.  We are listening to the zero hour now and it is very good.  Excellent music!  ‘Bye now and write soon.

                                                                                                 Love,

                                                                                                           Son

(Grandmother wrote on the envelope “Rec. Apr 17th  Monday”)
