 Dearest Mother and Dad,

Tonight I received you wire asking me why I haven’t written.  I am sure by now you have mail from me.  The delay was because of a trip I had to make to Australia.  I didn’t know that I was going to be so long.  You see, I was stranded at a very lonesome base for over two weeks because of weather and I couldn’t mail letters.  I can’t tell you much about the trip but Jack Mullins said he would tell his wife and she can tell you.  I had dinner with him as I stopped over to see him on the way back.  He really had a good dinner tho.  He said he had just got his cooks “on the ball”.  I think we might start home after one more “show” over here.  At least we hope so.  I will soon have all my time in and I am under most of the others.  I don’t have to work on my squadron job any more of which I am very glad.

                                                                                                Goodnight

                                                                                                 Love, Son
